Trauma Services
![]() |
Trauma Service is dedicated to the development of an organized trauma
system from prehospital services through rehabilitation. Our Trauma Service Area
(TSA) encompasses 38,000 square miles and 17 counties. Within this
area, there are 16 licensed hospitals and 37 emergency medical service
entities.
Responsibilities of the service include the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the care of the trauma patient to ensure compliance with the standards of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Emergency Physicians, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the State of Texas. The "Trauma Team" was established to provide quality care in an organized, systematic manner by coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team. For a trauma resuscitation, the team is composed of Emergency Physician, Trauma Surgeon (General Surgeon), Emergency Nurses, Trauma Coordinator or Nursing Coordinator, Respiratory Therapists, Phlebotomist; X-ray Technologist, Anesthesia Provider, OR Crew, Chaplain and Security. All MCH staff that have contact with the trauma patients during their hospitalization are considered members of our Trauma Team. Trauma Services welcome comments or questions concerning the trauma program at MCH. Please contact the Trauma Services staff at (432) 640-1131. |
